I've been trying to get kahl to come back to DeviantART and I just noticed that she finally posted a blog post recently. So yey to progress (and peer pressure)!
I've been back since January or February but I never wrote an entry mentioning it. I think part of what was keeping me away was that my inbox was huge. I just didn't feel like tackling it and I was in a place where seeing other people's work was not motivating or inspiring me. It was actually making me more upset. I had to unfollow people and groups because too much of a good thing becomes too much and everything in moderation.
I've actually been uploading work, but I've been putting most of them into my scraps folder. I needed an outlet back in January so I turned back to drawing. My drawing skills still sucks but I know I will only get better with practice. So I'm not as ashamed at how horrible it is and will upload my work anyway.
I kind of went on a downloading spree and downloaded (and wishlisted) a bunch of drawing apps on my iPod and Android tablet. I also bought a bunch of stylus to use on my devices. So far, my favorites are Autodesk Sketchbook, Adobe Ideas and Autodesk Ink. I still have more than 10 apps to try out and even more waiting on a wishlist to be bought.
I recently visited Seattle and took tons of photos and videos. I just haven't had the time to edit them and upload them. I've also scratched the drawing itch I had so I might not upload anything for a while. I have some unfinished projects and a list of other projects I want to work on, but I have some life issues that need my attention right now. If I stop to draw/edit photos/edit video, I feel like I am wasting time. Hopefully I can get these issues solved in the next month or so and then I can work on getting back on track.
I can't wait until inspiration visits me again!

I'm Back But I Might Not be Staying

My profile states that I've been a member for 7 years. It is actually a little longer than that because I had a previous username but I can't remember what it was, it was probably associated with an extinct email address. So I have no way to access it.
This is the first time that I am logging into DA since maybe January/February of 2012. Maybe even longer. I've had several sick family members, some who've passed away and many life changing events that kept me away from DA and other social networks.
When I logged in, I saw my subscription had expired and out of habit I renewed it, but now I'm wondering if I should have. I don't really use the site as much anymore and I actually feel like I don't fit in anymore. Everyone I made friends with or talked to have mostly moved on or barely use the site. I don't feel like I'm the target demographic anymore. I don't really sketch or draw anymore and I tend to post my photos on Flickr or Tumblr. So why should I continue paying for a subscription and logging in?
I can't wait until inspiration visits me again!

I don't really use the site as much anymore and I actually feel like I don't fit in anymore. Everyone I made friends with or talked to have mostly moved on or barely use the site. I don't feel like I'm the target demographic anymore. I don't really sketch or draw anymore and I tend to post my photos on Flickr or Tumblr. So why should I continue paying for a subscription and logging in?

My New Toy

I just got a Panasonic Lumix GF2, so I'm walking around with a camera again. I still loooovvvveee my Nikon D60 and still use it. I just don't walk around with it much. It is heavy. This new camera is much smaller and has an interchangeable lens too. I'm sticking with the lens I have now (zoom 14-42mm). When I get better at understanding this camera, I might get a prime lens for it.
I come on here once or twice a week but mostly to curate for the Night Shots group. Maybe on Sunday I will sit and go through my recent photos, edit them and upload them. I also just got an account on 500px.com so I might start uploading photos there as well.
I can't wait until inspiration visits me again!

Whoa! I accidentally let my subscription run out, came on today and saw ads everywhere. How do you people deal with this site with ads? They just seem so distracting. Maybe because I haven't seen them in years, but still ... lol

Ah! Tumblr, you spoiled me. I wis i could reblog. Oh well. Anywho, this post is an interesting concept: Face Your Avatar estunt.deviantart.com/journal/… i think this concept came about because of sites like facebook book where we are using our real photos and using it to connect everywhere.
Too lazy to write a real summary of the post, but apparently not enough to not write this explaintion paragraph on how I'm too lazy to write a summary of the post. heh, I've done weirder things.

My New Toy
